I’ve Had A GloJob…

Peering outside today and seeing the gloomy, grey skies of the UK, you’d be forgiven for feeling a little down in the dumps. I think I might be feeling it more keenly, however, because I have been extremely fortunate this year in that I’ve been able to go on a holiday.

I have just returned from the most amazing, relaxing, restorative time in Roquetas de Mar in Spain. With an average daytime temperature of 26 degrees, an average night-time temperature of 21 degrees (let’s not forget it’s October), the friendliest Spaniards, and the most laid-back resort I’ve ever stayed in, Roquetas de Mar surpassed my highest hopes. So much so, I didn’t want to come home.

Now I know that most people return from their holidays a little forlorn- having to come back to reality does that to you- but I have come home thoroughly fed up. The biggest reason being, that when I’m abroad, my Fibromyalgia symptoms are so reduced, I almost feel ‘normal’. Being able to sleep without waking multiple times in the night, being able to walk without aid or unbearable pain. I now know for certain that being abroad is actually good for my health!

Coming back to the UK and the Endless Grey that will likely be upon us now until at least March next year, means my natural ‘tan’ (I say this with inverted commas because anyone that knows me, knows that there are vampires that have more melanin in their skin than me) won’t last very long.

I am extremely thankful to the lovely Constance Hall and her lovely team over at GloJob who selected me and 19 other lucky people to give her newest product a sneak peek and road test- which means I can keep and develop my tan for as long as I like!

GloJob currently comes in the form of a self-tanning mousse and a tinted moisturiser that gradually builds colour. I was also gifted a luxurious plush tanning mit and a ridiculously useful back applicator. The product features are quite impressive too:

GloJob Naturally Nourishes Skin:
Our dual action tan provides a golden glow while natural extracts nourish the skin.

  • The GloJob gradual tanning cream combines almond oil, jojoba oil, argan oil and macadamia oil to hydrate and restore the skin while building a flawless tan
  • The GloJob tanning mousse combines green tea extract, vitamin E, rosehip oil and aloe
vera to protect and nourish the skin while creating a flawless tan
  • GloJob Tan offers a golden-based colour, which complements all skin tones and is designed
to give you more control over the level of tan.

Easy / Streak-Free Application:

  • GloJob Tan is formulated to minimise streaks! The a smooth and even application helps
achieve a flawless tan without the worry of uneven or streaky results.

Partial Application:
The streak-free application gives GloJob Tan its flexibility for partial application. Users can
choose to tan specific areas of their body, allowing for a versatility that suits their needs.

Minimal Transfer:
The product is designed to have minimal transfer onto clothing and bed sheets. This is aided
by the minimal use of “instant” bronzer.

A pretty good initial resume, don’t you think? There was only one thing left to do- to see if it lives up to the hype!

As I previously mentioned, I already had a bit of colour to me because of my holiday, but I’m still paler than most people I know. Having tried ‘fake tan’ before and ended up looking like I’d been ‘Tangoed’ (anyone else remember those disturbing adverts from the late 90s/early 00s?!), I was dubious to give this a go. That being said, I was not ready to simply let my tan fade like the memory of my Spanish dream…

My skin since being back in the UK and now dealing with plummeting temperatures and central heating, has been drier than the Sahara Desert (as you can probably see from the image above). After just one application and a developing time of about 8 hours, my arm looked like this…

I feel like you can see the colour difference here in terms of colour temperature. As stated above, this is a golden tan base. I’m a cool-toned girl so the difference possibly shows a little more than it might on a warm-toned skin.

As you can see from the colour (or lack of) of my belly, that area never sees light of day. You can therefore see the colour difference here the most.

In terms of using the product, it was actually really easy. I followed the instructions given and hoped for the best! I was pleasantly surprised with the results. Perhaps my favourite thing about the self-tanning mousse is that it DOES NOT SMELL! You know the icky self-tan smell you so often get after it has been developing for a few hours? Yeah, that doesn’t happen. Which is a huge positive for me and my neuro-spicy senses.

My skin also felt well nourished after applying it, and the tanning mit and back applicator are a dream to use! They feel really soft and luxurious!

Perhaps my only minor gripe with this product is that it’s a little too warm for my skin tone. This, of course, is subjective and my own preference. It would be nice to see a cooler toned product for us pale faces! Other than that, shipping was quick, the product arrived well packaged and has been pleasant to use so far. Overall I would recommend GloJob- particularly for the lack of usual self-tan annoyances such as overbearing smell, transfer of product and patchiness. Glojob has done a great job so far of avoiding all of these things and simply done what a self-tan product is supposed to do-tan!

Let’s see if I can keep my tan topped up until next summer!
